“It’s just a job.

Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand.

I beat people up.”

~ Muhammad Ali

Interesting words from a truly great athlete. Also, something to keep in mind.  It’s just a job.

Legitimate Work From Home Jobs #57

I can tell you from previous experience that focus groups are pretty fun to participate in!  Not only do they ask for your opinion on products and services, sometimes you get new products to try out before they are available to the public, meals are often provided and usually they give you money as compensation for your time as well!

There is a website called Delve that is looking for “Respondents” to sign up for their database for focus group studies.  It is FREE to sign up so that they can contact you when future focus groups open up that you might be a good fit for!  According to their website, “Typical incentives range from $50 to $200.”  To me that is definitely worth signing up for!  Check out Delve by clicking HERE!

Legitimate Work From Home Jobs #56

A few weeks ago I profiled a website called Hundoville, where you can work from home selling your services or products for $100 each.  Let’s say that maybe you have a skill or item to sell but it’s not quite worth $100.  Maybe it is worth $50.  Well let me introduce you to FittyTown.

FittyTown.com is “The Marketplace for $40 and $50 Jobs.”  Here you can find someone willing to design a tee shirt for you or even some comic book characters!  How cool is that?!?!?!?!?  There is truly something for everyone at FittyTown.  Even if you think you have nothing to offer, click over to FittyTown HERE and look around.  Maybe you will see something that sparks an idea of something you can offer to make a few FittyTown deals of your own!

Legitimate Work From Home Jobs # 55

If you are reading this blog post, chances are good that you know firsthand how companies are “downsizing” and how reluctant they are to hire full-time or even part -time staff and employees.  This makes it a really good time to be a freelance worker!

When you are a freelance worker, you work as projects come up.  It is not a set schedule or a guarantee of hours.  Sometimes the work will be plentiful and other times non-existent. There are new websites that have popped up that now make it easier than ever to get freelance assignments.

TaskArmy is a website that allows freelancers to list their services on their website for more visability and thereby getting a better chance at actually doing some work and getting paid for it!  It is free to join TaskArmy and then you will be able to list the services you are willing to perform.  You just go to the TaskArmy website by clicking here and in the upper right corner, in the blue box, you will see where it says “Freelancer, list your services here”.  That is where you sign up and create your account and start using the website.  I would think that the more services you offer, the better chance you have of getting work and repeat business!

It doesn’t matter if you are a professional writer or just starting out, there are paid writing opportunities out there for everyone these days!  If you are good at telling people “how-to” do things, then maybe you should be cashing in on your talents!

Firehow is one of the newer paid writing sites out there.  Basically, it is a collection of how-to articles written by people just like yourself.  Signing up is free!

According to the Firehow website:

“You will earn money based on many factors, such as, but not limited to, how many views, comments, and ratings your articles receive.”
If you would like to get more information on this money making opportunity, you can click HERE to go to the Firehow.com website.

Legitimate Work From Home Jobs #53

With the summer coming, now is the perfect time to start planning ways to make some extra income to spend on summertime fun!  One of the best ways to do this is to rent out extra space you have in your home.  It may be a room, a couch, or even a whole house that you have available for rent, but there may be someone looking to rent just the space you have to offer!

AirBnB allows you to list your place to stay for rent.  They do not charge an upfront fee, but they do get a 3% host fee when you get a reservation and make money!  If you live in a prime travel destination, this would be GREAT for extra summer income!

You can click here to visit the AirBnB site where they explain all about how it works, safety, pricing, payments and setting up your listing.

“Sometimes the slightest things change the directions of our lives, the merest breath of a circumstance, a random moment that connects like a meteorite striking the earth. Lives have swiveled and changed direction on the strength of a chance remark.”

Legitimate Work From Home Jobs # 51

I want to let my readers know that every company I have profiled so far in the Legitimate Work From Home Jobs series has been FREE to access.  The company I am profiling today works a little differently but they have been around for YEARS and definitely offer a legitimate opportunity.

Alpine Access (Sykes Home) is a company that hires people to work from the comfort of their homes taking “customer service” calls.  What makes this company unique is that they hire their at-home workers as EMPLOYEES not Independent Contractors.  This makes a huge difference with regards to taxes and benefits.  They offer their employees health insurance and 401K access (after a certain time frame).

The reason I say that this is not a totally free job opportunity is this:  once you meet their requirements and submit your application and they give you a job offer, you will need to pay a $45 fee for a background check.  Once you pass the background check, you will also need to purchase two types of headsets for training and for working  (in addition to the other items they require you to have to work at home).

All of that said, I truly believe that Alpine Access (Sykes Home) offers a beneficial work at home opportunity to anyone looking for a solid career with a proven telecommuting company. HERE IS THE LINK to the FAQ page with the information you need to get started!

Recently, Ben has not been feeling well. He had a sinus infection and missed three days of school last week because he was coughing so badly!  I have found that peppermint hot chocolate really helps clear the sinuses and just makes you feel better!  I was getting him hot chocolate almost every day at the Cumberland Farms store near us and it was “only” $1 per cup but then everyone in the household started wanting some and I soon realized that I needed to find a cheaper way to do this.

I got some peppermint extract but it was just too difficult to put only “one drop” into each cup of hot chocolate.  After thinking about it,  I realized that I could just make his hot chocolate as usual (from a regular packaged mix) and then add one or two Junior Mint candies to it!  Stir the hot chocolate until they have dissolved and it was just the right amount of mint!  He loves it!

A “movie theater” sized 4 oz. box of Junior Mints has about 48 pieces in it.  That is enough for at least 24 cups of peppermint hot chocolate!  Cheaper to use and easier to find than the extract!

Here is the cost breakdown (rounded):

  • Prepackaged hot chocolate mix bought at Aldi: 10 in a box for $1.19 = 12 cents each cup
  • Junior Mints bought at Dollar tree: $1 for a box of 48 (use 2) = 4 cents per cup
  • Total cost to make a cup:  16 cents (instead of $1)
  • Total cost to make 24 cups:  $3.84 (instead of  $24 !!!!!)

Not only is that a GREAT savings ($20 extra bucks stay in MY pocket!) but I love the fact that I can keep this on hand so whenever I need to I can just make some up instead of running up to the convenience store!
